How many types of memory areas are allocated by JVM?
For the execution of a java application memory is divided into five parts called

  • Stack
  • Heap
  • Class(Method) Area:  LOCAL VARIABLES of methods are stored in STACK. OBJECTS are created in the HEAP and STATIC DATA MEMBERS are saved in CLASS AREA.
  • Program Counter Register: PC (program counter) register. It contains the address of the Java virtual machine instruction currently being executed.
  • Native Method Stack: It contains all the native methods used in the application.
